Vice President hears better evidence from medics and P is better represented in remote hearings8/3/2021
Comments came in webinar looking at the role of court observers which you can now watch for free on the Bath Publishing website. Mr Justice Hayden, Vice President of the Court of Protection, has been talking about how the Court adapted to the demands of remote hearings in a webinar discussing the role of observers in court reporting.
During the discussion he praised the Court of Protection staff for adapting so quickly and made the point that adjourning welfare hearings was 'not an option' even though he had never felt as stressed than he did in the first few weeks of the pandemic worrying about how the technology would work. He then also goes on to state that he thinks that the evidence he hears from medics is better and that P is better represented, partly because he is often invited remotely into the ICU which always adds something to his decision making.
