Letter from Mr Justice Hayden: COVID-19 restrictions and the Court of Protection

Mr Justice Hayden, Vice President of the Court of Protection, has written about the impact of the Health protection (Coronavirus, Local COVID-19 Alert Level) (Very High) (England) Regulations 2020 (SI 2020/1105) .

The letter expresses concerns about the impact the regulations may have on present contact arrangements for elderly people living in Care Homes, particularly those in areas under a Tier 3 lockdown. He also makes the point that "it is important to emphasise is that these arrangements have been identified within the Regulations made by the Secretary of State and are therefore lawful. "
