Application by the NHS Trust to undertake urgent medical treatment on the P who was suffering from advanced cancer of the larynx. The application was granted. The P was diagnosed with advanced cancer of the larynx in September 2020. The condition was treatable but despite initially agreeing to undergo treatment and having signed a consent form, the P fell into a deep depression and refused to be treated, hence this application.
The court granted the application ruling that it was lawful and in the P's best interests to be treated by way of chemoradiotherapy and to undergo endoscopic resection and/or a tracheostomy, in accordance with the treatment plan. Read the full text of the judgment on Bailii Comments are closed.
